In this section:
A high-quality computing education equips pupils to use computational thinking and creativity to understand and change the world.
Computing has deep links with mathematics, science, and design and technology, and provides insights into both natural and artificial systems.
The core of computing is computer science, in which pupils are taught the principles of information and computation, how digital systems work, and how to put this knowledge to use through programming.
Our Computing curriculum is based on the outcomes set out in the National Curriculum Programme of Study for Computing. We use a published scheme (Kapow Primary) to deliver our Computing curriculum. We have selected this scheme, as we believe it supports our vision, values and whole school drivers and ensures the subject is taught systematically and progressively
A copy the national curriculum for Computing can be found below.
At Whitwick St John the Baptist, we strive to give all pupils the skills to prepare them for their future as ICT is continually developing, with new technologies emerging,
As an essential part of everyday life, ICT will continue to evolve in unforeseen ways.
Our children gain the confidence and ability to move with all advances in technology as and when they arrive.
