We are delighted to share the news that Mrs Cross (our School Librarian and Year...
We understand the importance of a smooth and enjoyable transition from Key Stage 1 (Years 1 & 2) to Key Stage 2 (Years 3-6).
We guide and support each child through this journey to help embed their sense of belonging in Key Stage 2, as well as develop their independence and resilience.
Underpinning our learning in Year 3, is our belief that all children can succeed when given opportunities, guidance and support.
Each child is encouraged to develop a growth mindset and have a ‘can do’ attitude towards their learning, knowing that making mistakes is an inevitable and vital part of their learning journey.
Reading for pleasure is at the heart of Year 3. The children are immersed in books through regular book talk sessions, accessing high quality and well-matched books from a well-stocked classroom book corner and access to the school’s library.
For any child who has yet to become fluent in reading, they will have access to reading materials that are closely matched to their phonics knowledge and receive additional support.
Every year, the children plunge themselves into our amazing Geography and History topics.
Our children become expert historians as they not only investigate the Stone Age but also ‘Rotten Romans’.
They use their geographic skills as they explore earthquakes in their topic ‘Angry Planet Earth’ and their ‘Field to Fork’ topic.
Our children relish the opportunity to take their learning outside the classroom including a visit to Tamworth Castle.
Year 3 delivers an action-packed start to life in Key Stage 2!
