Our Years 3 and 4 Gardening Club is flourishing, with pupils showing enthusiasm, teamwork and a real sense of pride in their work. This term, the children have been busy transforming areas of the school grounds, carefully planting lavender, hydrangeas and a variety of wildflower seeds. These were generously provided by the local St. John the Baptist Church for use in our peaceful prayer garden, helping us to create a vibrant and reflective space for the school to enjoy.
In addition to this, the children have taken responsibility for maintaining the planters outside the classrooms, where they have been diligently weeding and preparing the soil. Their efforts have already begun to show results, with cress successfully growing and new crops of peas, carrots and beetroot now carefully planted and nurtured. The children are learning not only how to grow their own food, but also the importance of patience, care and sustainability.
Gardening Club provides a wonderful opportunity for pupils to develop practical skills, build confidence and connect with nature in a meaningful way. It has been inspiring to see their curiosity grow alongside the plants they care for.
We would like to extend our thanks to the dedicated school staff who generously volunteer their time after school. Their support ensures that every session is both enjoyable and productive, allowing the children to develop valuable life skills in a supportive and engaging environment.
